Liniedge Window Coverings Collection by Hartmann & Forbes

Put a little green into your decor with window coverings from Hartmann & Forbes’s Liniedge Collection. Offering a stylish and sustainable alternative to the mini blind, this is the company’s first woven to size, custom window covering collection. Each shade or drapery is hand crafted and woven on handlooms to a specific window dimension, making each shade a true original.

According to Hartmann & Forbes, the window shades are “inspired by traditional handweaving tools and techniques developed centuries ago and passed down through generations.” The H&F product development team spent ten days in the South Pacific working with horticulturalists and weavers, “exploring different types of sustainable natural fibers that could be used and different methods of spinning, splitting and curing the fibers.”

You can find more about the design process (which I happened to find fascinating!) on the H&F Woven Threads Blog.

Hartmann & Forbes Sustainability

The thorough design process results in a beautiful collection of custom window coverings that are earthy, yet polished and give a sophisticated, eco-conscious look.

The natural fibers used to make the shades are made from bamboo, jute, and river reeds. The fact that these crops are rapidly renewable makes them seriously sustainable and eco-friendly.
