The galleries of the Dallas Design District are kicking off summer this Saturday with a sizzling set of new exhibits! From the lively colors on display at Holly Johnson and The Cameron Gallery to the animal-inspired art at Galleri Urbane and Mary Tomas Studio Gallery, we’ve got a line up that’s sure to please! Check out my pics for the evening’s must-dos:
(1) I am “Extremely Unlikely” to miss Galleri Urbane’s new exhibit by Texas artist Emilie Duval whose colorful and creative new show stages paintings of wild animals associated with sculptures of moose heads trapped behind layers of ribbons! (2) Say cheese! Get your picture taken by photographer George Krause who will will be at PDNB Gallery to photograph visitors utilizing his unique, mirrored-box portrait style. Appointments can be made with the gallery for sittings on Saturday 11 am – 5 pm. During the opening reception from 5-8 pm, visitors will be selected randomly. (3) Conduit Gallery is taking things larger than life with Annabel Daou’s America, a monumental drawing assembled from 20 sheets of paper that creates a 7-foot by 13-foot composition. (4) If you’ve never done it before, don’t miss artist J.D. Miller painting live at Samuel Lynne Galleries. The show starts at 7:30.
Find exhibit information, times and more after the jump.
