An elegant dress of hand-sewn roses on silk organza over taffeta inspired the creation Pindler & Pindler’s new Guerlain drapery sheer. Inspired by a silk dressing gown found in the archives of the Newport Preservation Society, the original dress was custom designed especially for the fashionable Mrs. Berwind of Philadelphia who summered in Newport at the Elms at the turn of the 20th century.
Pindler & Pindler’s design team used the dress as inspiration to create this delicate silk drapery. Their version features flowing silk organza that has been appliquéd with silk organza roses, and finished with embroidered leaves and pearl bead accents.
This sheer is one of the many luxurious designs that makes up Pindler & Pindler’s Signature Exclusive Newport Mansions Collection, which was inspired by the historic mansions of Newport, Rhode Island. This Signature Exclusive series of fine upholstery and silk fabrics captures the elegant essence of some of America’s greatest estates.
A portion of sales from Pindler & Pindler’s Newport Mansions Collection go to support the Preservation Society of Newport County, a non-profit educational organization that is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the areas of historic architecture, landscapes and decorative arts.
