Driving back from lunch today I noticed some new signs up over at The Meddlesome Moth (The Moth, for short). The Lower Oak Lawn restaurant, currently under construction, was a bustle with activity as construction teams filtered in and out preparing for The Moth’s much anticipated opening.
Not much has been published about The Moth since Shannon Wynne’s interview with the D SideDish blog last summer, so here are a few little updates to feed your Dallas foodie gossip fix for the day.
- The Meddlesome Moth launched its Facebook Page. Be sure to become a fan so you can get updates!
- The website now features a “coming soon” splash page. Gotta love their domain: www.mothinthe.net
- They’re hiring. Deets here and here.
- The opening is set for April-ish pending any more weather related delays. (Source: Facebook)
That’s all for now folks. Light up the comments with your enthusiasm for The Moth’s grand opening.

I can’t wait for this place to open! I just moved to this area a few months ago and love it. I moved from Henderson, so I miss living in a more vibrant area, but the streets there could not handle the traffic.
I hope the Moth will have an outdoor area that faces AWAY from the street and towards the grassy area with all the new sculptures. I love alfresco dining and drinking, but most places in Dallas have patios right next to a busy street. The street noise and car exhaust ruin the whole outdoor eating experience. Plus I love the dramatic lighting from both of the new apartments and the new lights in that grassy area. I’m kinda concerned about bugs in the summer, but nothing is perfect.
I can definitely see myself having drinks on such a patio after work in the next few months!
Are there plans for opening new restaurants and bars in that area? I would love to see a small coffee shop open in the area (like where that rug store is next to the Alexan).
