F. is for Frank makes it hip to be square in their newly released 2011 jewelry line. The new collection includes several stunning new shapes and figures which come in gold, rose gold, and their signature pewter. The rose gold color is new to their repertoire and I am absolutely loving it!

I’m also digging the hip hickory pattern they’ve introduced. There is just something natural and beautiful about the abstract shapes of these pieces.

The TCU Horned Frogs are the 2011 Rose Bowl Champions. I still can’t believe it! TCU is my sister’s alma mater, not mine, but over the years I’ve become a tried and true Horned Frog fan. I even had the chance to go out to Pasadena this New Years to visit my little sis and partake in the Rose Bowl festivities.

Given my Horned Frog spirit, I knew I had to post pics of these custom, pewter cuff links from Design District hotshop F. is for Frank! They designed them for a client who wanted to create a pair for his best friend who is a big Frog fan. They worked with the client to make them just right. How cool is that?!

Not a TCU fan? They’ve got all kinds of cool cuff links available in their shop. And I’m pretty sure they’d be happy to design more custom collegiate cuff links for anyone who asks!

Shannah Frank and Casey Melton, the lovely ladies behind the Design District’s f. is for frank studio, will be debuting their 2010 jewelry collection at The Wooden House on March 10th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Check out the video for a personal invite and to learn why they’ve chosen to donate 25% of all proceeds earned at the event to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

H. is for Handmade
All of the F. is for Frank’s creations are designed, sculpted and cast in their Design District studio, an inconspicuous but charming warehouse on Manufacturing Street in the Dallas Design District. Their designs are sold on their Web site and in their Etsy store.

Last week I had the opportunity to stop by the shop and meet co-owners Shannah Frank and Casey Melton and their adorable pet boxers, Millie and Milo. Casey showed me around the shop and gave me a quick sculpting and casting tutorial.

She explained that jewelry is their newest venture, but is growing quickly. They’ve already had orders on their Web site from all over the United States – and they’ve even had a handful of international orders!

C. is for Custom
The “bread and butter” of the studio is its custom design work. The designers work with clients to design custom furniture, light fixtures, promotional items, hardware and more. I was especially impressed by the hockey stick light pendant they created in coordination with HKS for Cook’s Children’s Hospital.

W. is for Workshops
Shannah and Casey are big believers in buying handmade. They believe there is something special about giving one-of-a-kind gifts. They share this passion with their customers by offering design workshops. From jewelry and hand casting to holiday ornament classes, Casey and Shannah teach attendees how to sculpt their designs and take them through the finishing process. A week after class they have custom gifts to keep or give to friends or family.

F. is for Frank classes are for everyone but they offer specialized classes for different audiences. Their hand casting workshops are geared toward children and families and their wine and gift making classes are for adults.

You can find F. is for Frank this weekend, October 10 and 11, at the Urban Street Bazaar in the Bishop Arts District. For the DIY types, visit them October 18th for their Hand Casting workshop from 1-3 p.m. at their warehouse in the Design District (Registration Required).
